Safety standard for swing and slide doors

EN 16005

A law for automatic doors

All installations must comply with the Machinery Directive, which is law. The easiest way to meet these safety requirements, is to follow the harmonised safety standard EN 16005. To meet the provisions, you must use EN 16005 approved sensors and install the sensors according to the standard requirements.

EN 16005 rule

“The on-site risk analysis takes into account the prevention of contact between the moving door leaf and the user, if a significant proportion* of the users are vulnerable.”
* Significant proportion means sufficiently great or important to be worthy of attention because of the potential consequence.
