Technical alternatives SIGMA 3G after 2G/3G sunset

Dear Customer,

As 2G/3G connectivity will be sunsetting across the world with different timeframes depending on the region (see details in the linked pdf), you will find below the technical alternatives that allow you to continue using your Sigma 3G device(s) after the 2G/3G sunset phase.

Here are 2 options that will allow you keep operating your Sigma 3G devices after the 2G/3G sunset:

Option 1 – Connect the sensor to a wired network through PoE Injector

  • Connect the Sigma 3G to a cable-connected network with an Ethernet cable. The network should provide a direct internet access to Sigma and have the relevant ports opened (refer to user guide). You can power and connect the device with the use of PoE Injector.

Option 2 – Connect the sensor to a 4G/5G router with a local SIM card

  • Purchase a 4G/5G router that meets the following conditions:
    • can connect to the internet (4G/5G and/or Wi-Fi)
    • has a SIM card slot (any type)
    • has 1 Ethernet port minimum (if more, several sensors can be connected)
  • Purchase 4G/5G SIM card (4G or 5G depending on the router you are using) from a local mobile provider
  • Insert the SIM card into the router
  • Connect the Sigma 3G device to the new router with an Ethernet cable and a PoE Injector

If you need advice on a specific router model, do not hesitate to contact us.

We remain at your disposal, should you require more information and will make our best to support you in this transition.

Best regards,

The Sigma Team
